The chip-counting vision is the single biggest unknown in the project. If it works at acceptable accuracy, you ship v1 with confidence. If it doesn't, you fall back to self-report-with-photo-evidence and re-scope — for the cost of a week and fifty photos instead of a quarter of engineering.
