LLMs fabricate book quotes 80% of the time

A deterministic verification script found that only 1 of 5 quotes attributed to a nonfiction book by an AI synthesis pipeline were actually verbatim in the source text. The remaining 4 were paraphrased, fabricated, or mis-cited — meaning the LLM confidently invented attributions that sounded plausible. This is a concrete, reproducible failure rate, not an edge case.
