When an LLM summarizes a book from a metadata stub rather than the full PDF, it will confidently produce quotes that sound right but don't exist verbatim. A deterministic grep against the actual source text caught exactly this: 9 of 10 quotes survived, 1 was synthesized into plausible-sounding falsehood. The trap is that the fabricated quote still reads as inspirationally true.
